পায়ের নিচে সর্ষে নিয়েই বোধহয় জন্মায় সকল বঙ্গসন্তান। এক জায়গা থেকে অন্য জায়গায় বা দেশ-বিদেশ ভ্রমণ করে তা লিপিবদ্ধও করেছেন অনেকেই। দুই মলাটে প্রকাশিত এমন অনেক ভ্রমণকাহিনি সমৃদ্ধ করেছে বাংলা সাহিত্যকে।
এমনই এক ব্যতিক্রমী ভ্রমণকাহিনির সংকলন এটি । এই সংকলন আদতে লেখকের কথায় 'ভ্রমণের কোলাজ'। ভ্রমণ মানে তো শুধু একটি স্থানে যাওয়া বা প্রকৃতি দর্শন নয়। ভ্রমণ মানে সেখানকার মানুষ, তাদের ভাষা, খাওয়াদাওয়া, পোশাক, সংস্কৃতি অর্থাৎ স্থানটির পূর্ণ বৈচিত্র, বৈশিষ্ট্য এবং সেখানকার যাপনের সাথে আত্মস্থ হয়ে ওঠার চেষ্টা।
লেখক বিভিন্ন সময়ে, বিভিন্ন মানুষজনের সঙ্গে, বিচিত্র জায়গায় শুনেছেন, সেখানকার মানুষের গল্প। দেখেছেন তাঁদের জীবনের নানা অভ্যাস। অনেক সময় মূল ভ্রমণ পেরিয়ে মনে দাগ কেটেছে ভ্রমণে ঘটে যাওয়া কিছু অদ্ভুত ঘটনা। এই বিচিত্র অভিজ্ঞতা ও কল্পনা কখনো বা জন্ম দিয়েছে ছোটগল্পের। আর এই সবকিছুই মিলেমিশে গড়ে উঠেছে এক স্বতন্ত্র ভ্রমণ কোলাজ---
“মেঘের সঙ্গী”।
